๐จ Color Picker
Pick a color and get HEX, RGB, and HSL values.
Pick a colour and get its HEX, RGB and HSL values at the same time, with a live preview and one-click copy.
How to use the Color Picker
- Click the colour swatch or type a HEX value directly.
- All three colour models update together.
- Copy whichever notation you need for CSS, a design tool or print.
Why people use it
- Removes the manual arithmetic of converting between HEX, RGB and HSL.
- The live preview shows the colour on a light and a dark background, which is where contrast problems show up first.
- Values are ready to paste straight into a stylesheet.
Frequently asked questions
When should I use HSL instead of HEX?
HSL makes a colour family easy to reason about: fix the hue and vary the lightness to build a consistent scale. Many design systems define palettes in HSL and emit HEX.
What is the difference between RGB and RGBA?
RGBA adds an alpha channel for transparency, from 0 for fully clear to 1 for fully opaque. Modern CSS also accepts a fourth value directly inside rgb().
Does this handle wide-gamut colours?
It works in sRGB, the colour space of the web. Display P3 and other wide-gamut spaces can express colours outside sRGB, which is why a colour sometimes looks more saturated on a modern phone than in a browser.
