🎲 Random Number Generator

Random numbers, dice rolls and coin flips from the browser's cryptographic source.

Mode How many
From To

Generate random numbers in any range, roll polyhedral dice, or flip a coin. The values come from the browser's cryptographic random source and are mapped onto your range by rejection sampling, so there is no bias towards the low end. Draw several numbers at once, and switch on the no-repeats option when you need a lottery-style sample where the same value cannot come up twice.

How to use the Random Number

  1. Set the lowest and highest number you want.
  2. Choose how many values to draw.
  3. Leave no-repeats off to allow duplicates, or switch it on for a sample without them.
  4. Switch to dice or coin mode for tabletop rolls and quick decisions.

Why people use it

  • Running a fair draw for a giveaway or a prize.
  • Tabletop games that need dice which are not in the box.
  • Sampling without bias for a test, a survey or an audit.
  • Settling a decision when neither side is willing to move.

Frequently asked questions

Are the numbers truly random?

They come from the browser's cryptographic random source — the same source used to generate encryption keys. It is far better than Math.random for anything that matters, though no software generator is a physical source of entropy.

Why not just use the modulo operator?

Taking a random number modulo a range biases results towards the low end whenever the range does not divide evenly into the generator's output. This tool uses rejection sampling instead, so every value in the range stays equally likely.

Can I generate numbers without repeats?

Yes — switch on no-repeats. That is the correct mode for lottery draws, seating orders and raffle tickets where the same entry must not win twice.
