🎬 YouTube Thumbnail
Grab any YouTube video's thumbnail in every resolution.
Paste a YouTube video link and download its thumbnail in every published resolution, from the small default up to the 1280×720 maxres version.
How to use the YouTube Thumbnail
- Paste a YouTube watch link, a Shorts link or a bare 11-character video ID.
- The tool extracts the video ID and lists every thumbnail size that exists for it.
- Click the resolution you want — the image opens at full size, ready to save.
Why people use it
- Handy for checking your own thumbnails, sourcing a frame reference, or grabbing an openly licensed image.
- Shows which resolutions actually exist, so you know whether a maxres thumbnail was ever published.
- No login, no watermark, and no file stored on a server.
Frequently asked questions
Is downloading a thumbnail allowed?
Thumbnails remain the copyright of the video owner. Downloading for personal reference, research or commentary is generally fine; republishing someone else's thumbnail as your own is not.
Why is the maxres version missing for some videos?
YouTube only generates a 1280×720 thumbnail when the source video is HD. Older, low-resolution or vertical uploads often only have the smaller sizes.
Do Shorts links work?
Yes. Shorts, youtu.be, embed and standard watch URLs are all parsed, and a bare video ID works too.
