How to use the Lorem Ipsum
- Choose whether you need paragraphs, sentences or words.
- Enter how many — one paragraph or five hundred words both work.
- Click Generate, then Copy to put the text on your clipboard.
Why people use it
- Latin text has a realistic word-length distribution, so reviewers judge the layout instead of reading the copy.
- Exact word counts let your mock match the real content length, which keeps the design honest.
- Generated instantly in the browser, with no round trip to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Lorem Ipsum start with 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet'?
It is a mangled excerpt from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, written in 45 BC. Printers have used it as dummy text since the 1500s because the word lengths look natural in Western type.
Should I ship placeholder text to production?
No. It is a design aid. Replace it before launch — search engines treat it as meaningless, and screen readers will read the Latin aloud.
Can I generate a specific word count?
Yes. Switch to word mode and enter the exact number you need.
