Quality:

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP files by adjusting quality and dimensions, with a before-and-after size comparison. The image never leaves your device.

How to use the Image Compress

  1. Select one or more images.
  2. Drag the quality slider and, if you want, cap the maximum dimension.
  3. Compare the original and compressed sizes, then download the result.

Why people use it

  • Cutting page weight is one of the most direct ways to improve load time and Core Web Vitals.
  • You can see the exact saving before committing to it, instead of guessing at a quality setting.
  • Local processing means you can compress client photos without uploading them.

Frequently asked questions

What quality setting should I use?

For photographs, 75 to 85 percent is usually indistinguishable from the original at normal viewing sizes while cutting the file size by more than half. Push lower only for thumbnails.

Why does compressing a PNG barely help?

PNG is a lossless format, so a quality slider has almost nothing to work with. Converting a photographic PNG to JPG or WebP is what produces the real saving.

Does compressing remove metadata?

Re-encoding through the canvas drops EXIF data, including GPS coordinates. That is usually desirable for a photo you are about to publish, but it also removes camera details.
