What it does for Marketing and growth teams

How to use it

  1. Drop the hero or banner image. The output format follows the input (JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG).
  2. Drag the quality slider. The preview re-encodes in real time so you can stop at the lowest number that still looks good.
  3. Save the result. The page tells you exactly how many bytes you saved and what percent of the original the new file is.

Common questions

How hard can I compress a hero image?

Judge it at the size it actually renders, not at 100%. A hero shown about 1600px wide, with text over it, survives moderate compression invisibly - and check the contrast of that text over the compressed version too.

JPEG, PNG or WebP?

WebP where you can serve it (smaller at the same visual quality), JPEG for photographs, PNG only for flat graphics or transparency. Compressing a PNG rarely buys much because the format is lossless.

Does compressing also resize the image?

No - it re-encodes at the same dimensions. If you need a smaller size as well, resize first and compress the result, so the image is only re-encoded once.
