โฐ Timestamp
Convert between Unix timestamps and readable dates.
Convert a Unix timestamp into a human-readable date, or turn a date into epoch seconds and milliseconds, in your own time zone or in UTC.
How to use the Timestamp
- Paste a timestamp, or pick a date with the date picker.
- The tool detects whether the input is in seconds or milliseconds and converts in both directions.
- Copy the value you need, including the ISO 8601 form.
Why people use it
- Removes the guesswork from reading a raw epoch value in a log file or a database column.
- Shows UTC and local time side by side, which is where most time-zone mistakes originate.
- Handy when you need to write a token expiry or a scheduled job time.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my timestamp show a date in 1970?
You probably passed milliseconds where seconds were expected, or the reverse. A 10-digit value is seconds and a 13-digit value is milliseconds. The converter auto-detects which you meant.
What is Unix time measured from?
00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970, not counting leap seconds. That reference point is called the epoch.
What is the 2038 problem?
Systems that store Unix time in a signed 32-bit integer run out of range on 19 January 2038. Modern stacks use 64-bit values and are not affected.
